Born in 2008 in the association’s activities Archeoclub of Italy ” Siris ” non-profit organization , in partnership with the City of Ionic Montalbano (MT) , the ARCHEOLOGICAL Andriace is the biggest archaeological open air museum of Italy, with its 10 hectares of Mediterranean , within the state property of the City of Ionic Montalbano called ” Bosco Andriace .”
Aims at enhancing the historical – anthropological territory , as well as the protection of the Mediterranean nature , offering the life-size reconstruction of ancient artifacts , scientifically documented : the Neolithic village , consisting of two huts and other functional structures in everyday activities such as the well, the work areas, the haystack , etc. . and surrounded by a moat enclosure and playback of several funerary contexts for the periods Oenotrian and greek ; Ikria the reconstruction of one of the earliest forms of movable wooden structures used for events and public performances of Greek drama , and the castrates , by fortified Roman military camp gear , quickly accessible , to complete the already wide range of cultural
Great is also the range of experimental archeology workshops and hands-on activities and interactive games with nature.
The aim is to bring the visitor closer to the historical and archaeological heritage and environment of our country , understanding and experiencing the main activities of the daily life of prehistoric man in the Neolithic village and touching with hand tools and objects , to know the forms of worship in a diachronic from the prehistoric period to the greek , through the simulation of a real archaeological excavation , to travel in time through games , stories and representations of the myths of the ancient world .
In addition, the ARCHEOLOGICAL Andriace , with its many nature trails , including the “Path of the Mediterranean nature ,” the “Path Grufolante ” and the “Path wet” , secure and equipped with teaching aids , leads into the habitat Ionic Mediterranean arc , to know the plant diversity and biological diversity.
